I'd never heard of the 90-second Newbery Film Festival before our friend Bayard e-mailed us about it...with the idea that our child actors would have great fun with it. This week, just days before the deadline, Bayard wrote the script for From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler, filmed the kids acting it out, and edited this video for submission. Great work, Bayard!
The 90-second Newbery Film Festival is sponsored by writer James Kennedy, who holds screening for the best videos around the country. Portland's festival will be at the end of February. I was particularly interested, in reading James' post about last year's Portland event, to learn that he was a JET (teacher on the Japan-English Teachers program), which grew out of the program Mike belonged to when we lived in Japan (BET, or British English Teachers).
Watch these Portland kid actors' first film festival debut here.
If the video makes it to the screening in Portland, I'll be sure to let you know!
