What a week!

The stomach virus (and another virus) hit our household during the week between Christmas and New Year's. I had some sort of flu right after Boxing Day, and all of the boys as well as my mother-in-law had the stomach flu. Poor Olga had it the worst and has now just recovered from it. It was an exhausting week!

Besides that, the kids have been squabbling more than usual and I think it's time for everyone to return to their routines. Here are a few snapshots from our last week. Kieran had his second belt test in martial arts:

Chris also made his debut as Santa Claus this week. The director of "Dracula" taught a winter acting camp and posted on her Facebook page that she was looking for a young actor to play Santa Claus. Chris stepped in--and did great, even though he'd been up the night before with the stomach flu! As they say, the show must go on!
Skinniest Santa in history
Ho, ho, ho
As soon as Chris came on stage, our Santa-loving Nick audibly said "It's Christopher!" As the actors consisted mostly of grade schoolers, it was very cute and very amateur. The funniest bits were when the actors were arguing onstage about whose line was next! It was in the historic Alpenrose theater, which brought back fond memories!

Nick as Elvis
Elvis and Indiana Jones are the latest trends in the household, thanks to Kieran.

Last night we had friends (and my parents) over for New Year's fondue and had a wonderful time. Today we took a jaunt to Tryon Creek State Park, but it turned out to be a very quick trip because of the bitter cold!

Sweet Nicholas
Tonight we watched "The Princess Bride" with the boys. We had seen it back in the early '90s, and I had forgotten what a fun movie it is. "I am Inigo Montoya, and you killed my father. Prepare to die!"
