Small pleasures

Mike just told the boys that it's bath night, and Nicholas asked, "Can we do the egg thing?"

Here's the egg thing:

When Nicholas gets out of the bath, he likes to lie on the floor covered in a towel. Mike gets a spoon and uses it to tap on Nicholas. He says "I can't wait to taste my boiled egg. I think I'll crack it."

Then he pretends to scoop with the spoon and taste it. Then he announces "Oh no! It tastes like a towel!" Or "Oh no, it tastes like a toe!"

Nicholas dissolves into peals of laughter.

I read today that the average child laughs 75 times a day, while the average adult laughs 18 to 20 times. What happens as we grow up? Why do we lose such a sense of wonder? We should all do the egg thing.
