In my conversations with friends, I'm finding a surprising number of people who are not yet familiar with Lily Ledbetter or the recent (completely ridiculous) Supreme Court decision.
McCain did not show up to vote for the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act in the Senate (which was initiated by members of Congress who wanted to right the wrong done to women by Ledbetter); however, he stated that he would not have voted for it anyway. He very condescendingly stated that he felt the key to promoting pay equity was "better training programs." Ha!
Michelle Obama is going on tour with Ledbetter to talk about fair pay for equal work and blogs about it at blogher.com. Here is a list of senators who voted "no" against the act. Obama made a special trip back to Washington in April specifically to cast a "yes" vote.
